Tracker Coordinator Software 2014 Golden Cheetah Award Winners

Recipients maximized Serengeti Tracker features to save money and drive efficiency
Bellevue, Wash.

Serengeti Law, part of Thomson Reuters and provider of Serengeti Tracker™ – the legal profession’s most widely used and highest rated e-billing and matter management platform – hosted the 3rd annual Golden Cheetah Awards, which honor clients’ creativity and execution in bringing about dramatic changes for their legal departments through the use of Tracker. The awards were presented at the Serengeti Summit held in September in Seattle, Wash.

Harsco was awarded first place for harnessing the power of the e-billing capabilities within Tracker to decrease outside legal spend. Realizing a return on investment of 237 percent required increasingly accurate reporting based on strict control over matter creation and law firm engagement. Additional factors included requiring budgets for every new matter created, and the reduction of 400 outside firms down to five based on performance metrics, reporting and evaluations. Harsco’s savings also created a positive impact for the team leading to an international Tracker coordinator being added and a promotion for the coordinator responsible for leading this success.

Second place honors went to Darden Inc. as they ambitiously chose to integrate all data from four existing legal management systems, with more than 14,000 disparate matters into a single system, Tracker. And they accomplished this feat in only three weeks. With all matters, e-billing, invoice workflow and analytics available in one place, reporting capability across a variety of metrics improved in quality and processing time was reduced by 50 percent. Darden expects savings of more than $600,000 in the first year as a result of enforced billing guidelines and invoice reductions.

CA Technologies received third place honors by embracing the automation and innovation available in Tracker as part of their initial installation. Swift implementation of custom task codes and alternative fee agreements drove advanced reporting and comprehensive data analysis, demonstrating continuous legal department improvement to management. Automated performance across accruals, budgets, matter uploads and accounts payable web services are now standard operating procedure at CA Technologies.

A new award for 2014, Rookie of the Year was created to spotlight new Serengeti clients that accomplish project objectives in their first year on Tracker. Elementis plc invested in Tracker to improve transparency, organization and reporting, and saved money while doing it. With informed and engaged executive support, the team leveraged key Tracker functionality very early, including extensive automated reporting and a robust contract management workflow. Full commitment to Tracker capabilities from the beginning saved time and money, and increased accountability.

Serengeti Tracker is web-based software used to manage matters, invoices, budgets, status reports and documents from outside counsel firms, which includes 100 percent of both the AmLaw 200 and Global 100. Serengeti Tracker holds the largest collection of e-billing, matter management and live-rate analytics information, with detailed data on attorney performance that includes costs, staffing, duration, predictive accuracy and evaluations by clients.
